"if what love asks for in return is not met, love continues on in perseverance. But that does not mean that love asks for nothing in return." that's the kicker.
so to rephrase for my own benefit: the giving of love is unconditional...at least that's our aim. but our love is not without condition...we desire a response in the giving of our love.
