I have about a hundred pages left to go in the book, but here are some selected quotes from Culture Making, by Andy Crouch that I want to remember. I like how this book is filled with sentences packed with so much thought, that other books could focus on the ideas that briefly mentioned.

In Crouch's first quote, one quickly realizes how many people, mostly unintentionally, are *choosing* a life of poverty for themselves, as he defines it. I do not mean the wounded veteran on the street (and in this context I would actually challenge Crouch's definition as being too broad), but rather the store clerk who works their 8 hours, watches 8 more of TV, gets some sleep in the mix, and does it all over again. Staying within Crouch's context, I would go so far as to say TV is our generation's greatest cause of poverty.
